So you say it's your Birthday...

There was a lot of excitement in the house center this week. Upon further investigation, I found out that the children were planning a party. In fact, there were multiple parties being planned at the same time.

Listening in on their conversations I heard:

" Hurry up guys, we have a lot to do!"
"The baby is down for her nap and now we can make the snacks."
"Hurry, the guests will be here a 2:00."

They wanted to make invitations.

Great printing practise.
"We need to decorate!"

They made balloons out of paper and cut them out too!

Some of the children said the balloons needed numbers on them.
Some wrote Happy Birthday on theirs.

" I drew a picture of my Mom so she can be at the party too!"

" 2 candles because she is two today!"

This very determined girl wanted her balloons to stay up. I asked her what she could use in the classroom to help her ballon stay up. "A ruler" was the perfect tool for this problem solving girl!!

It may look messy but it was so much fun and what's even better is that a lot of valuable learning was taking place within their play!

I wonder what we will learn next?!?!
